Did you plan to have your kids so close together?…..

So many people had so much to say when they realised i was pregnant again within months of giving birth to our first miracle baby.

‘Wow, you might need to keep your legs closed next time’..they snickered.

‘Sex if you are breastfeeding is disgusting’…they said.

‘Did you plan this?’….they wondered.

‘You won’t be able to work for a long time’…they lamented.

‘You won’t be able to afford a minder’….they shouted.

‘You will be isolated’….they confirmed.

I mean…..should I continue? There were so many negative statements and back handed compliments. It was hard. I almost felt myself slipping into doubt until I realised that He who blesses, provides.

In fact, i had decided that, that would not be my story. There were so many times I had dreamt about being a parent, why should i be ashamed or ungrateful. In that moment, it was clear that even those closest to me had not caught the vision. And depending on their initial reactions, i qualified or disqualified their places on my onward journey.

Embracing a positive mind each new day is my biggest asset.

These are my top tips….

1. To every mother out there….your life has just begun. It is not cancelled just because you have become a mother…yes in fact, it has changed – for the better.

2. It is a new chapter, and new challenge. Embrace it and you will find that it is incredibly enjoyable.

3. Qualify who you confide in. You will be very vulnerable. You only need positive people around you

4. Know who are spectators and ensure you emotionally distance yourself from them. Find your people.

5. Plan your goals. They can still be achieved. They may need alternative routes, but still doable

6. Nothing is impossible. There are countless mothers out there with less support than you, absolutely slaying. Be inspired by them.

7. Don‘t be drawn into the lie of the majority…in that no one is doing it, so it’s not possible. Where there is a will, there is a way.

8. Renew your mind with uplifting music and uplifting people. It makes all the difference.

9. Do not allow others to belittle your struggles, just because they may feel that they are worse off than you.

10. Be yourself, do life your way with Gods direction. You have definitely go this 👏🏾🤗

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
